The Elders are members of the body led by the Senior Pastor who provide general watch, care and oversight. They continually evaluate the teaching ministry of the church and review major ministry decisions and strategic initiatives. They use their wisdom, discernment and shepherding gifts to ensure the church remains on a true course biblically and that the life of the church is being well managed with the assistance of other competent and Godly leaders. Scripture indicates that the ultimate decision-making authority in the church rests with the elders.

Scripture also states the role of elder is equal to that of an overseer.  They are to care about the spiritual and physical well-being of members, regularly praying for the sick. They are to lead by example and seek the mind of Christ (who is the head of the church), in all matters through the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. They are to guard the body against harmful influences so that the truth of Christ will remain credible to both the congregation and the community (1 Peter 5:1-4; Acts 20:28-31; Titus 1:9; James 5:14).

Spouse: Sandy
Year Married: 1992
Children: 3
Year began working at SUCC:  I began as the part-time youth minister in 1993. In 2002, I stepped down as the youth minister and became an Elder.

Faith Background: I have grown up in the church, and it has always been a big part in my life. My parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles all were very active in the church. My mother’s death when I was nine had the biggest impact in my spiritual life both positively and negatively. As God promises, He works all things out for the good of those who love Him! He has been faithful to that end. I attended Cincinnati Christian University in Cincinnati, Oh. and graduated with a BS. I married by lovely wife, Sandy, while attending CCU. During our first year of marriage, God revealed himself to me in a big way. I have been able to use that experience to help me hold fast to my faith even in time of doubt. Since then, I have tried to serve him in the local church first as a youth minister and then in the role of an Elder. My children are my number one spiritual priority at this point. My greatest prayer is that they know and love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. I'm also currently serving the Lord as a Principal at Batchelor Middle School in Bloomington, In.
